Reader's responses to The Big Question

April 16, 2007

The Question: What’s your favorite song of all time? Why? What memories does it evoke?

The Answer: “Awesome God’ by Rich Mullins. There is something about that song that grips my soul over and over again with the reality of God’s awesome greatness. As far a secular song, I would say ‘Tears of a Clown’ by Smokey Robinson and ‘Just My

Imagination’ by The Temptations; both of those songs would really get to me as a teen and now I am 50 and whenever I hear either of those songs in a store, my eyes still get teary. I also love our national anthem, it also moves me to tears. Also any song by NewSong and Casting Crowns are my favorites—I just love songs that lift up the name of Jesus Christ, those are always the best.”

The Answer: “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah...’cause it reminds me of the Old South and little

rabbits that should be hunted.”

The Answer: “My favorite song of all is Phillips, Craig, and Dean’s ‘Favorite Song

of All.’”

The Answer: “Not necessarily of all time, but for right now—’How Great Is Our

God.’ It just awes me how great God truly is! I’m brought to tears every time I hear that song!”

The Answer: “My favorite: ‘He’s the Only Reason I Live, But, Oh What a Reason.’ This song was sung by CLC mass choir, I believe. Every time I hear it, I can remember so many awesome life changes that were going on in my world when I first heard that song! Music is so powerful!”

The Answer: “Nancy Grandquist’s ‘Nobody Knows’ on the Somebody Special album. Evokes times of deep prayer and communion with God.”
