Rain
or Shine, He’s the Same
July
9, 2007
By
Theresa Huff
Recently
we were late leaving work due to a storm hitting our town quite hard with hail,
heavy rain, and flooding. At one point, while driving down the freeway to
meet my husband for supper, the rain was so hard it was almost impossible to see
the road! Many people were pulling over to the side to wait it out.
Being the hard-headed person that I am, I just kept driving. About two or
three miles further on down the road, the rain stopped and the sky brightened.
The
weather forecast was the same for the next day.
How
like life this is. Some days are perfect and “all is right with your
world.” On the other hand, some days just seem to be on a downhill
slide—everything that can go wrong, does. The day seems like it can't be
any more dark or bleak. Then when the worst of the storm crashes in
around us and our world is totally rocked, we finally give up and hit our knees
with an "Okay, God, You have my attention now!" Suddenly the
darkness lightens. Maybe it was because we prayed, maybe it was because we
had an attitude adjustment, or maybe the burden or situation actually did change
and our spirit lightened. Paul wrote, “For now we see through a glass
darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part, but then shall I know even as
also I am known” (I Corinthians 13:12).
In
this life we will have more storms. When the skies brighten and the
rainbow shines through, it is in that brightness that we can appreciate even
more what we learned in the dark, lonely times we just walked through.
Whatever tomorrow holds, we need to remember He is the master of the storm.
Be it rain or shine, He is there all the time!
