The Cure for Cancer is Hope

The deepest need of a cancer
patient is Hope. This Hope is in your soul. It is a deep hope. You can have
hope and I will prove it to you. Being hopeless is the worst thing for you.
Hope belongs to the one who sees it.
Two scriptural references remind us
of this hope:
“This I recall to my mind,
therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not” (Lamentations 3:21-22).
“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure
and stedfast” (Hebrews 6:19).
I live in awareness that there is a God who fills all space.
He is everywhere. There is enough of God around me at all times—to take
care of me as though I were the only one He had to take care of. He takes
personal care of all His creation in this manner. He is always present with
you. He wants to help you His way. Give God what He wants. He wants you to have
faith in His word. If you will believe, He will give you hope. Give God this
opportunity.
When we hear the word “cancer,” it
does two things to us. It strikes fear in our hearts, and it forces us to think
of death. So we have been gripped by fear and death, two biggies.
You must understand yourself. You
are big enough to overcome fear and you are big enough to overcome the fear of death. The thing that will give you power to do
this is Hope. Hope is a truth about something that will grip your mind and hold
it steady. As long as you have strong hope, you will not have fear. Fear comes
when you lose hope.
A friend won a bronze medal in
karate. He said: "I won because I didn't fear. I felt the pain, but I
didn't fear it. I endured it and won." You can win the battle over fear by
living in Hope. Hope is a powerful thing. Many have won the battle with hope
alone.
Although you are going through your
sickness, there are others who are in a race with time to discover a cure for
your cancer. My 38-year-old son had a brain cancer, so I know the emotions that
go with facing this. We all lived in hope. This hope gave us peace. His doctor
was so moved by my son's passing that he quit his practice and moved to Houston
to work in research to help find a cure for cancer.
You can hope in this research.
There are people who would be alive today had they lived in our day because the
answer to their problem has been found. Live in hope because the answer to your
cancer will be found.
You should hope in your doctor. He
lives on the cutting edge of medicine. He stays informed on the latest
discoveries. If it's discovered, your doctor will be the first to know about it
and will bring it to you. His heart tells him to concentrate on your comfort as
much as possible. He took the oath: "Do thy patient no harm." He is
subject to limits, but is doing his best to help you.
Let me lift your faith. There is a
higher power. My doctor told me he has seen healing in his patients that he
knows was not the result of something he did. He did not bring about the
healing. Stop. Read that again. Let this truth grip your heart.
His statement is a grip of truth. There is a healing that could take place in
your body that is performed by your Maker. Your Maker understands you because
He designed you. There is hope for your body. Live in this hope that is in your
soul. Your body will rest better when your soul is filled with hope.
There is another truth that needs
to grip us all. We are not going to live forever. Everyone has an appointment
with death. We will keep this appointment. The reason for this is we don't
belong here. We belong in heaven. We are going to where we belong. We are not a
permanent earthly creation. We are much bigger than that. Our spirit is
eternal. We belong in the eternal. I find peace in knowing my son has gone to
where he belongs. Someday I, too, will go to where I belong.
There is a higher power that has
great plans for us. He requires training in a school called life that He puts
us through. There are some things only brokenhearted people qualify for. That
is why we go through the tough times. It qualifies us for the task of helping others
through their tough times. Please learn this lesson on hope so you are able to
help others who have no hope. There are people that are hopeless. Teach them to
live in hope that calms the troubled waters.
There is a hope that reaches beyond
this life. When we die, there is a whole new world to be experienced. The end
of life as we know it does not stop here. It becomes a new beginning in the spirit world. People that have this hope fortify their
conviction with this hope and position for the journey. There is hope beyond
the grave.
A conviction in the hereafter is a
must. It gives you hope and you need hope. There is hope in prayer and this is
a good time to begin. You have nothing to lose by prayer. Try it. Trust you are
being heard. Pray: "God, give me the spirit of hope and peace." Then relax and let hope and peace flood your soul. Give God
what He wants. Pray with faith.
Consider this. Your sick body is
not the real you. It is a temporary house for your soul. The soul is the real
you that will live forever somewhere. No one is worthless. Each person is worth
more than all the world. Have hope.
At this point we have looked at the hope of the soul in
these areas:
- Fear
has torment. Love casts out fear. Learn to love God with all your heart,
mind, soul, strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. When you have
love in your heart, fear must leave. They cannot dwell together. Love is
stronger than fear. Our hope is in God.
- His
Word is a covenant of love with us.
- Understand
you are an eternal spirit living in your diseased body. There is hope.
- Doctors
are in a race with time to find a cure. There is hope in that.
- The
Grip of Truth: God is a Healer. We will not spend eternity in this life.
It is God's
plan for us to live eternally with Him, healed and happy.
