AIM Rocks:  Wish You Could Be Here?

(Editor’s Note: This is the sixth in a six part series on working overseas for a season of your life.)

October, 2004 marked our sixth month in Prague as AIMers.  We took a step of faith to come here, and many of you joined us with invaluable support of prayer and finance.  Since then, we have heard from some people who say they wish they could go out and “change the world.”

“I wish I could make a difference in the Kingdom like you are.  I just don't have the time/money/talent,” they say.  But you can.

How many people have you shared a meal with this week just to listen to their life's story?  You just had lunch and listened.  Do that once and you make a difference.

Have you seen a person looking perplexed at a street sign and stopped to ask if you could help direct him to his destination?  Do that once and you make a difference.

How many sacks of groceries have you delivered to someone in need on your street?  Someone who doesn't even attend your church?  Do that once and you make a difference.

When was the last time you cooked dinner for your pastor during a particularly busy week in his life?  Even though your week was just as busy?  Do that once and you make a difference.

When you listen to that phenomenal evangelist, don't wish to be like him, thinking that you could impact more people with your life.  Start by impacting your street, your neighbor.  The only way that evangelist can move a heart through the anointing of God's Word is if someone was first invited.  You can make that invitation.

So much of what we do here in Prague is simply building the relationships that are needed to open a door for Jesus to walk into.  You don't have to move 5,000 miles away to impact the world.  You need to start by greeting your neighbor tomorrow morning.  Build that relationship through friendship and genuine love.

Ananias didn't go to the mission field; he was in familiar territory.  Just look at the fruit of one interaction he had with Saul in his own city.  Don't wait for God to call you to some remote jungle or cobblestone street.  Make a difference for the Kingdom right where you are.
